Nike, Hoo Haa's, Church Strippers and Bill Maher.
That's so weird to write in a headline
There are some odd goings on in this world. These are just a few to get you started for the day.
What is Nike Thinking?
Nike’s new design for the US women’s Olympic team uniforms has faced criticism for being too revealing and born of “patriarchal forces”. The high-cut bikini line of the women’s leotard, revealed during a kit launch for Paris 2024, sparked backlash on social media. Former US track athlete Lauren Fleshman criticized the design for not prioritizing athletes’ performance and mental comfort, suggesting that if the outfit was truly beneficial, men would wear it too. That isn’t necessarily true; there’s much more for men to secure during athletic events down there than women. Just like women have more to secure up top than dudes. US long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall humorously expressed concern over the outfit’s skimpiness with a comment on Instagram which read: “Wait my hoo haa is gonna be out.” Rest assured, that’s a technical term used by athletes and professionals alike. Nike responded by stating that the design is one of many options available to athletes, emphasizing their involvement in the design process to ensure comfort and suitability for events.

Not the Point the Bishop Was Trying to Make
A bishop and several others were stabbed during a church service in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley and was captured on a livestream. The bishop, identified as Mar Mari Emmanuel, and a senior priest, Isaac Royel, were among the victims and are in stable condition. The attack happened just two days after a separate stabbing incident at a Sydney shopping mall, where six people were killed. There is no indication that the two events are linked. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the church stabbing. The community has been urged to remain calm, and religious leaders have expressed shock and condolences. The New South Wales Premier described the scenes as “disturbing” and emphasized the importance of community unity. Bishop Emmanuel won’t be delivering any multipoint sermons like this one for a while.
Calling Out Strippers in Church Is No Longer Acceptable
Pastor Mark Driscoll has made headlines again but this time it’s for a good reason. Well, a bad reason but for good reason. Recently, at a men’s conference in Springfield, Missouri, Driscoll was invited to speak. However, the organizers made a rather peculiar choice: they hired a male pole dancer to perform on stage. Yes, you read that right! Driscoll, known for his candid and fiery approach, didn’t hold back. He expressed his frustration with the decision, even though his theological stance might be a bit sketchy on the metaphor side. But really, what were they thinking hiring a male stripper and sword swallower for a men’s conference?
If you can stomach it, here is the video of the dance: https://x.com/itsNTBmedia/status/1779868421687054348
And here is Mark Driscoll calling them out: https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1779660848933560503
Right after this happened, however, Mark appeared back on stage with John Lindell, the man who kicked him off outta there, and he apologized.
Bill Admits That Abortion Is Murder, and He’s Fine With It
Bill Maher, during an episode of his show “Real Time,” sparked a reaction by stating that he views abortion as murder but is okay with it, citing overpopulation concerns. Even though Christians have known this was Maher’s and others’ position, the face that it was stated so coldly shocked everyone. He expressed respect for the ‘absolutist’ position that abortion is always wrong, challenging the logic behind setting gestational limits for abortion legality. Maher’s comments came during a panel discussion with British journalists Piers Morgan and Gillian Tett, where he also criticized former President Trump’s shifting stance on abortion, suggesting it was for political gain.
